Hey There, Portland

We recently got back from a visit to Portland, Oregon... the first time either Emily or I had been there. Her brother and sister-in-law were kind enough to fly us out to visit them, and show us around their new home.

I think we made the most of it. Didn't get to check out much nature-wise, between the pretty standard winter rains and just packing too much into the four days we had... But that just leaves plenty for our next trip. Can't wait to hike around those beautiful mountains.

Most of these are shot on my cell phone and an aging Panasonic GX1. Because a giant DSLR is a major bummer when you're trying to relax, and I increasingly found myself leaving it in the car or hotel (after spending two days figuring out how to haul all that gear cross country). Apologies for the low quality on some of these.

Lake Mead, I'm pretty sure.

Here's a vlog from our first full day in Portland... still uploading the rest, so stay tuned on the YouTube channel:

Basically, we ate and drank our way across the city... and there are far worse ways to discover a new place.
